Forklift

Machinery and Equipment

Forklift

A powered lift truck for moving palletised or unitised loads around the yard and warehouse.

WhatsApp

Overview

A forklift lifts and carries loads on a pair of fork tines, engaging a pallet or the load's own base directly rather than needing it slung, the fastest way to move stock in and out of storage, or components between a warehouse and a fabrication shop floor. Yard forklifts are typically specified with pneumatic or solid tyres and a rated capacity well above a warehouse unit's, since shipyard loads routinely weigh more than the cartons a general-purpose lift truck is sized for. Mast height and reach are matched to the racking or stack height a specific warehouse or yard actually uses, since an oversized mast simply cannot fit under some shop doorways.
