Blower

Machinery and Equipment

Blower

A fan unit that forces air through ducting for tank ventilation, dust extraction, or cooling during hot work.

WhatsApp

Overview

A blower moves a high volume of air through flexible or rigid ducting, forcing fresh air into an enclosed space or extracting fumes, dust and heat out of one, wherever natural ventilation cannot keep a confined space safe or workable on its own. It is standard equipment before anyone enters an enclosed tank or void, and standard again during hot work inside one: confined-space entry procedures at a shipyard call for forced ventilation both for breathable air and to clear welding fume and blasting dust as work proceeds. Flexible ducting lets one blower reach into an irregular tank shape that a fixed vent could not, which is why portable units rather than built-in fans are standard confined-space equipment.
