Fittings and hardware used with anchor chain: shackles, swivels, and the connectors that join chain lengths.
Anchor chain is rarely one continuous length; it is made up in shots joined by shackles, and a swivel is fitted where the chain meets the anchor to stop the chain twisting as the vessel swings at anchor. Each of these connectors has to match the chain's own grade and size, since the weakest link in ground tackle is whatever fitting was mismatched to save cost. A shipyard carries this hardware as a category because it is consumed and replaced piece by piece over a chain's service life, not swapped out as one assembly.
Full specifications, material grades and dimensions are confirmed per enquiry. Tell us the vessel and the duty, and we will send the datasheet.
