Ceiling Board

Overview

A ceiling board lines the underside of a deck to close off the structure above and give accommodation and working spaces a finished, level deckhead, usually fitted to a suspended grid that also carries lighting and ventilation fittings. As with wall panelling, the board's fire rating is set by where the space sits relative to escape routes and machinery spaces, so the same board is not necessarily used throughout a vessel. Fixings are chosen to be removable without damage, since electrical and ventilation runs above the deckhead need periodic access.
