Overview
An interior panel lines a steel bulkhead or deckhead to give a finished, insulated surface in accommodation and working spaces, doing double duty as thermal and acoustic insulation between the bare steel structure and the occupied space. Marine panelling is specified for fire performance as much as appearance. Which class of panel an area needs is set by its position relative to escape routes and machinery spaces under the vessel's fire safety plan, not by finish alone.
